R.I.P., Johnny

So, it was Johnny that bought the farm in FF and not the Thing or Sue. I was wrong.

Any way you cut it, it’s still profoundly dumb. Everyone knows they are just going to bring him back at some point in the future. Superman and Batman have both died and they came back. Captain America died and he came back. It’s so pointless when they say, “This time-it’s real!” because everyone knows it’s not.

The real crappy part of this whole shit show is the fact that they book is being cancelled. That’s a real (not) smart thing to do in the middle of a economic down turn…cancel one of your flagship books. FF was one of two books that I bought starting at the age of 6. The other was Amazing Spider Man and that book has seen better days as well (see: need new artist, STAT!) There’s no doubt in my mind that people will turn elsewhere and Marvel will lose its market for this book.

So, while I did enjoy the pathos of the issue, the cliche overwhelmed me so much that I threw up a little in mouth. It turned into a full technicolor yawn when the implications on sales dawned on me. What a bunch of maroons…
