My pick of the week this week is Detective Comics #840. This book hit the ground running upon its release with a thrill a minute, action packed stunner of plot by James Tynion. Tynion brings many elements from the old Batman Family books into the relaunch of Detective Comics. This is in keeping with Geoff Johns’ long term goal of brightening up the DC Universe.
This latest issue, beautifully drawn by Edy Barrows (the finest DC artist, IMHO), is the concluding chapter Batwoman’s dad going all fascist rogue on everyone. A shocking moment two thirds of the way through leads to a stunning conclusion tied directly in to current events in Action Comics.
