Black Hammer by Jeff Lemire and Dean Ormston is the best book of 2017. I haven’t enjoyed a book this month since Watchmen. A stunning take on the darker side of a team of heroes who suddenly find themselves trapped in a world from which there is seemingly no escape.
There is a lot of retro stuff here as well as new twists which make this story amazing. It reminds me a great deal of what the Justice Society would be like if they were kinda creepy. It has that Silver Age feel to it.
This book is a must read for any collector. The first two volumes are out as trade paperbacks. Pick them up at your local shop.
