Picks o’ the Week!

It was incredibly hard for me to pick just one book this week. I got it narrowed down to three picks and have just decided to put them all up as this weeks choices. They are all amazing and should be purchased at your local comic shop.

First up is Doomsday Clock #5. The wait between issues is most vexing but does it really matter? Next to Black Hammer, it’s the best book to come out in the last decade. This ish we finally get to see Batman team up (I guess you’d call it that!) with Ozymandias. Honestly, I’ve waited for this since I was in college. The dialogue between them alone is worth the price of the entire comic. Add in some stuff that happens with Rorschach, the Comedian, and the psychos

Next up is Bendis’s first big issue of Superman: Man of Steel #1. Any concerns I had that he would be able to deftly handle this character went out the window after page 3. Ivan Reiss’s artwork perfectly captures Supes and the new direction he is heading. I don’t want to give away too much but things are going to be quite unsettled for a while for the big red and blue boy scout.Mime and Marionette and it’s simply amazing!

Finally, we have my favorite superhero, Spider-Man, with Amazing Spider Man  #800. In this full length, 80 page stunner, Spidey faces off once and for all with Norman Osborn in his latest incarnation, the Red Goblin. This is the penultimate issue for long time writer, Dan Slott. There are a variety of artists that drew this book and each one brings a different sensibility to the story. The diversity in the visuals make it a more compelling story.

Pick up all three of these books NOW!
