When I was a kid, comics had a certain look to them. them. The four colors eye popped off the page and entranced me into a world of heroes and adventures. These days, comics just don’t look they did back then. Many are dark and very seriously painted. Certainly I like this style but find myself frequently opining for those days of yore.
This is why I enjoy Daredevil as much as I do. It reminds me a great deal of Amazing Spider Man in the early 1970s and I think that’s just what Mark Waid and is going for in his now 32 issue run. It reads like a bloody comic book should read with vibrant colors and no brooding darkness. In this latest issue, we see a glorious return of Marvel’s monsters from the 1970s. The story arcs also have a great deal of pathos making the characters solidly three dimensional.
